Pregnancy week 3
In the 3rd pregnancy week the male sperm has fertilized an egg cell - and they have joined together to become a zygote - the zygote divides and multiplies and changes -
to become the embryo - then roughly 5 to 7 days after fertilization the embryo attaches to the uterus.
What this means is that pregnancy week 3 is the week you become pregnant - if you like it is the real first week of pregnancy. For a description on why this is the case see
our pregnancy due date description.
At week 3 of pregnancy the size of the embryo growing inside you is about the size of the head of a pin or 0.006" long - its tiny but its a life.
At this stage of pregnancy its very likely you won't know if you are pregnant yet - if you have a regular menstrual cycle then you might think you have gone a few days over but
its unlikely you will know for sure that you are pregnant - despite this lack of awareness of your pregnancy there is a lot going on inside you during week 3 of pregnancy - for instance,
the connections between the mother and the embryo start to form and the umbilical cord begins to grow..
Apparently some women know when they ovulate and can feel mild cramping or pain - generally, though its too early to
notice any pregnancy symptoms
