Pregnancy week 26
By this week of pregnancy your baby weighs almost two full pounds and is more than 9 inches long from the top of its head to
its buttocks. Baby is putting on more weight with each passing pregnancy week.
In order to support the amazing growth of your baby you need to be eating enough and eating as healthily as you can - the good news is that your can happily
consume around 2600 calories a day !
You are no doubt familiar with how amazingly fast your baby is growing and developing by pregnancy week 26.
Not only has baby grown at this great rate but all your baby's senses are working. In particular baby's sense of sound is bringing them into
contact with the outside world. Many women talk to their baby's and why not - they can hear ! And they respond. There are prenatal systems available such as the one on the left that
claim to act as a prenatal educator - and who says that education starts at 2 years of age !
As far a Mom goes pregnancy week 26 brings with it a further move upwards of the uterus to about two and a half inches above the bellybutton - your weight gain has consolidated and
you are now about 18 to 20 pounds heavier than when you started out. If you have put on a little more pregnancy weight then remember that
everyone is different and weight gain varies from womam to woman - just make sure you are going to your doctor regularly and that if you suffer from gestational diabetes
that you are working on your blood sugar levels with your doctor and through your diet and exercise.
