Pregnancy week 16
This week your baby is 14 week old - recall that the way your pregnancy is calculated, the first week of pregnancy is the date of your last period (before you became pregnant) -
At week 16 of pregnancy your baby is about 4.3 to 4.6 inches long (measured from baby's head to its buttocks) - and baby weighs in at
about 2.8 ozs - your baby continues to develop and grow at a very fast rate.
At pregnancy 16 week, your uterus and placenta (through which the baby is nourished) are growing steadily - the amount of amniotic
fluid surrounding baby has increased and the uterus can be felt just below the bellybutton - all this activity means that you are getting
bigger - you should be wearing maternity clothes
by now.
Its possible that you can feel the baby moving (fluttering) at this pregnancy stage - the fingernails are well formed by now - the arms and legs have grown and are moving.
You are more than likely finding it uncomfortable at week 16 of pregnancy - while sleeping as you can't lie on your stomach - also, lying on your back can cause
the uterus to lie on top of important blood vessels that circulate blood to the baby - its likely that you will find lying on your side is the most
comfortable position anyway - there are pregnancy pillows available to help you get comfortable.
