Chinese Conception & Pregnancy Calander

The Chinese Pregnancy Chart - a.k.a. gender chart, Chinese lunar gender chart, conception calendar - or simply Chinese pregnancy calendar as it can be called, is supposed to tell you the gender (sex) of your unborn child - apparently the original Chinese pregnancy chart was buried in a royal tomb near Peking anywhere between 700 and 1000 years ago - now it is kept safely in the Beijing Institute of Science.

The calendar itself is based the lunar or moon cycle, like many ancient calendars - this year 2007 China moves inexorably into the 'year of the pig' and 2007 is also the year of the 'golden pig' - 'golden' here meaning it only comes around every 60 years - this time period is based on the Chinese lunar calendar...

So, if you are interested in the Chinese Pregnancy calander and want to find out if your child will be male or female you need to understand a little about lunar or moon cycles.

Pregnancy and the moon

Lunar cycles may influence your pregnancy. The lunar month (lunar cycle or synodic cycle) is approximately 29.5 days - every 29.5 days there is a new moon and about halfway between each new moon there is a full moon - some people believe that the moon influences behaviour and other aspects of our life on earth - enough said - essentially the Chinese pregnancy calendar uses knowledge of the lunar phases during conception to predict the gender of your baby - there are other regularly occuring moon cycles which are longer than 29.5 days - there is a 19 year cycle and 60 year cycle.

We are not going to publish a Chinese pregnancy calander here - there doesn't seem to be a detailed chart available on the web (at least that we can find at time of writing this) but we wish luck in finding one - in the meantime may we suggest some other calanders to you:
